Job Descriptions:

  • MUST POSSESS A CUSTOMER-FIRST ATTIDUDE
  • Create and maintain processes, procedures, and associated documentation as needed to support new installations and existing sites.
  • Secure necessary training and skills to assist with the commissioning and support of the iDirect, SCPC, and Vipersat platforms.
  • Secure necessary training and skills to aid and support RigNet network which will include Call Manager, IP infrastructure, IP telephony, etc.
  • Knowledge of configuration Cisco routers and switches.
  • Knowledge of IP routing protocol (RIPv2, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP)
  • Willingness to train field personnel
  • Must be available 24x7 support according to support schedule.
  • Service visits to the teleport, and data centers should be expected. Occasional travel to overseas locations.
  • Complete all required paperwork such as service tickets, installation & decommission of equipment orders, etc.
  • Comply with all safety requirements implemented by employer, customers, facility owners or vendors involved in the employee's daily tasks, including but not limited to PEC, H2S, Water Egress, Lock Out/Tag Out, First Aid/CPR, Lifting, Fall Protection, Climbing Techniques, etc.
  • Assist with ensuring that proper quality control is maintained on new installations
  • Work closely with Global Engineering to ensure knowledge is kept current on all equipment in use.
  • Serve as technical leader and support for the local Field Engineer force and the NOC.
  • Normal shop hours will consist of 8/9:30 to 5/6:30. This is expected and will be maintained unless unusual working conditions prevent. (i.e. Up all night previous night with support of problem site.) This is a support role and FE's in the shop will need this position in place at shop for support and training.

Job Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with an interest in commercial-grade satellite communications systems and Cisco networking equipment.
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent education
  • Strong computer and IP networking skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Willingness to satisfy customers at all cost and follow through with resolutions for trouble issues
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of working on a support schedule and covering for other team members
  • Able to work with multiple supervisors, both remote and local.
  • Valid state driver license and willingness to travel occasionally
  • Knowledge on Cisco's Unified Messaging Platform
  • Wireless Connectivity (Cisco, Firetide, Motorola/Orthagon)
  • Microsoft Exchange, Visio
  • iDirect / SCPC / Vipersat Satellite experience
  • Experience with PC networking and troubleshooting
  • Must have at least 2 to 3 years experience in network and VSAT.
  • CCNA certified is a requirement.
