Position Summary: (overall purpose and objective of the job) • The Field Engineer is to perform quality service & support that meets or exceeds the customers' expectations.
Qualifications & Responsibilities
• Must be capable and willing to travel to all offshore and onshore installations serviced by RigNet. • Full compliance with all safety requirements at work site. • Full compliance and prompt completion of RigNet HSE Training Courses. • Coordinate with site personnel and project managers to complete installations in a timely & efficient manner • Ability to create, edit, manipulate, & properly store all associated site documentation pertaining to the site & project ( Microsoft Visio, Excel, Word, etc) • Duties may include cabling, terminating, and the mounting of indoor and outdoor equipment. • Proper status reporting on the assigned installation / service call for any problems, potential issues, cost, man hours, etc. • Responsible for assisting with proper equipment procurement, testing, staging, and delivery of such to the job site • Responsible for assisting with new site commissioning, testing, and approved handoff to the NOC & Operations • Carry out Site Surveys and identify cable routes, antenna placement, provide a parts list and identify any hazards associated with the forthcoming installation.
Essential skills and experience: (tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the job)
• Must possess basic knowledge of Oil & Gas Industry and how it operates • Must possess good knowledge and theory of VSAT devices and operations and successfully complete GVF online Level 2 course. • Must have advanced troubleshooting and testing skills in regards to VSAT, networking, radio, and computer devices deployed in the field • Must possess Seatel / Stabilized antenna experience. Should be able to perform basic PM and maintenance of a stabilized antenna system. • Must be able to identify and hold a basic understanding of all Cisco devices that RigNet deploys. • Must be able to properly terminate and test all cables used in the field. (Cat 5/6, LMR400/600, 3 core mains) • Must be customer focused, an effective communicator, and team player. • Candidate should be well-organized, capable of working independently with the ability to work with minimal supervision and in high stress situations and environments • Candidate should be well-organized, capable of working independently with the ability to work with minimal supervision and in high stress situations and environments
